About Me

Hellllooooo...
That's me... except I don't like cats now.

I'm Brie. I'm 21 years old, and have a lot of growing up to do. I mess up a lot, I hurt people's feelings, and I have a hard time being happy when I'm hungry. I need kind of a lot of help in kind of a lot of things in my life... but thankfully I have a really awesome teacher who supports me, encourages me, and loves me along the way. I am fiercely independent and constantly work on balancing between what I want and what is right. I am a fighter. I work hard for the things that are important to me. I live freely and love deeply. I am an active pursuer of truth and readily defend my beliefs. God is my Father, Jesus is my Savior, and this life is a beautiful one worth living. I have a strong relationship with God, and know that when my spiritual priorities are in line, then everything else in life makes more sense.

That being said... learning to trust in God's will and His timing for my life has kinda been the running theme lately. I'll start the story a few years back..

I graduated high school in 2012, and a few months later started college on athletic scholarship at BYU in Provo, Utah. I ran for 2 years as a heptathlete, which is a fancy name for "can't decide what event I want to do, so why not all of them?" (hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m, long jump, javelin, 800m). I was a hurdler in high school, so adding so many new events, four of which I had never done previously was an adventure. Thankfully with supportive coaches and a stubborn will, I had two amazing seasons with an improvement margin nothing short of a miracle. My third year of college, however, took a slightly different route. I put my athletic training on hold to prepare for a trip to South America as a service and proselyting missionary for my church. It's been quite the process, and an even crazier experience that I'll spare ya the details. JK I talk a lot... so you've probably gotten all the details in some form or another. But yeah. (read the whole deal here).

I started this blog a year ago kinda just cuz I felt like it... maybe thought it would be fun to write out my thoughts, post some cool pics, and then be able to look back at them all in once place. Then I got injured while I was on my mission and had to come home for surgery on my knee. So I talked about that too. Hopefully sooooon, I can start talking about other cool stuff. so yep. Stay tuned. For now, thanks for stopping by :)

this is us. All of us :) #simmonsclan2k15
